National Volunteer Week

20 May 2024 by Graham Glassford

National Volunteer Week, Australia’s largest celebration of volunteers, commences Monday 20 May 2024 and will run through to Sunday 26 May 2024. Each year 34,500 Territorians support sport by helping out and the Northern Territory Government wants to give “3 Cheers for Volunteers” in celebration of their contribution.

This year the theme for National Volunteer Week 2024 is Something for Everyone, highlighting that everyone can help out and that there are volunteer opportunities to suit everyone.

Time is such an important commodity in today’s society and not everyone can give up large amounts of their time to volunteer. However, asking others if they can help or if you have some time, asking if you can help, in any small way, can make a difference.

Together with the support of the Australian Sports Commission a toolkit has been provided for clubs, leagues, associations, and peak bodies to use to thank, recognise and celebrate the significant contribution of volunteers in the Territory.

The Australian Sports Commission are helping everyone jump on board with a toolkit of resources to enable wide promotion of this year’s messages. The toolkit contains easy-to-use social media templates, key messages, posters, and ready-made social media tiles.

We hope you will use the toolkit to spotlight sport volunteers who are at the heart of your sport.

Don’t forget to tag ASC and TFHC.NT and use the hashtags!
